What does playing for the New Zealand Falcons mean to you?
I’ve been playing in gay rugby teams for nearly 20 years now, as well as for mainstream teams. The NZ Falcons is special because it provides an opportunity to celebrate being rugby players and being gay. That brings fun banter and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. And tough, rugged rough and tumble on the field. Rugby is the game they play in heaven – and gay teams like the NZ Falcons make sure it truly is a game for all.
What is a highlight of your involvement with the New Zealand Falcons?
Getting a NZ gay rugby team back on the field and participating at Bingham Cup for the first time was a dream come true. And Bowl final against the Emerald Warriors was the cherry on top.
Favourite:
Sports person: Too many to mention, but a special shout out to all the out gay elite athletes – we stand tall alongside you.
Food: Tiramisu
Movie: Meh. No time for movies. But obsessed by the US version of the Shameless telly series at the moment.
Holiday destination: Samoa.
If I could meet one person, who would it be and why:
SBW…
I can’t live without: Coffee.
